So just a little info about me. I grew up in Foxboro, MA and currently live there with my parents or as I like to refer to them as my roommates. Growing up I was always playing sports. Football in the fall, basketball in the winter, and baseball in the spring/summer. When I was in eighth grade I tore my ACL during a football game. It was late hit in the end zone and I didn't even see it coming. I missed two football seasons because I had to wait a year to have the surgery because my doctor didn't want to affect my growth plate. I believe this injury had a profound effect on my life for a couple reasons. First being I lost some of my athleticism. I wasn't as fast as I used to be and was never the same football player. Secondly, I developed a great appreciation for injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation. Through my rehab that I had to go through twice, I got to see all the things that athletic trainers and physical therapists do. I enjoyed working with those people to get me back to playing sports. In high school I played all three major sports but baseball was my best.
I ended up going to college at St. Edward's University in Austin, TX where I majored in kinesiology/athletic training. Why Texas you ask? Good question. A question I've been asked many times. One of the main reasons was that I wanted to go somewhere warm. I needed to get out of the cold. I wanted to live somewhere different and meet new people. I figured college would be an easy way to do so. I visited Austin and fell in love with the city. Its one of the coolest cities in the country and I call it my second home. I haven't been back since shortly after I graduated and I miss it terribly. With my degree, I was able to take the Texas license test to be licensed as an athletic trainer. I passed, and began looking for work. I had a hard time finding anything steady and I started missing home. I moved back home and started working as a physical therapy aide. Then I started to miss athletic training. However, the only way I could continue AT outside of Texas was to go to an accredited grad school program to get my masters degree and sit for the national test. Bridgewater was my first choice because it's so close to home. I got in and that's where I am today. I had a great first year and hope this year will be even better.
